PROJECT OVERVIEW

ABOUT

The F1 Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious events in motorsports, and HPE's involvement in the race showcases their innovative contributions to the team’s performance. For this project, I collaborated with my manager, Chris, to create a dynamic and engaging animation that would be displayed in the garage during the race. The animation needed to highlight HPE's role in the race, including their data collection and technology, while visually conveying the excitement and precision of the F1 world.

Goals & Challenges

GOALS

The task was to create eight infographic screens that communicated key marketing messages such as “fueling teamwork: data is collected from more than 300 sensors on the cars,” showcasing HPE’s contributions to the F1 race.

CHALLENGES

The challenge was to translate static infographics into animated content that would maintain clarity while adding energy and movement. Additionally, we had to ensure that the visuals were polished and aligned with HPE’s branding guidelines while also fitting the high-speed, high-tech world of F1.

Process

We began by designing the static infographic screens in Figma, using HPE’s brand assets as the base. The animation needed to convey the sophistication and speed of F1, so we drew inspiration from the race’s visual identity, incorporating sleek, modern design elements. Our focus was to communicate complex data in a visually engaging yet clear manner.

After creating the static screens, I began prototyping animation ideas directly within Figma. We explored various transitions, movements, and effects, aiming to achieve a seamless loop between the eight screens while maintaining a sense of motion and excitement. Chris and I worked closely through several iterations, refining the animations to ensure they were both dynamic and visually consistent with HPE’s branding.

Once we finalized the looping prototype, we handed it off to an external animator for final polishing, ensuring that it met the technical standards required for display at the event.

Final Animation

Final Outcome

The final animation was displayed in the garage during the Monaco F1 race, immersing viewers in the world of HPE’s contributions to the event. The animation looped seamlessly, effectively conveying HPE’s role in the race while maintaining visual appeal and energy. The feedback from both the client and viewers was extremely positive, highlighting the animation’s impact and alignment with the high-speed atmosphere of F1.

REFLECTION

This project was a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile event in the F1 world. It allowed me to refine my animation and prototyping skills in Figma while collaborating with Chris to deliver a polished and engaging final product. The experience reinforced the power of collaboration and iteration in achieving a successful outcome.
